Board of Directors
CHAIR. Rowland (he/him/his) has been on the board of GAPA for five years. He is passionate about uplifting the Queer Trans Asian & Pacific Islander community and enjoys producing events and creating safe spaces for folks to gather.
Professionally, Rowland is the Associate Director of Prevention Services at the San Francisco Community Center, of which he has seven years of experience working within the public health sector. He oversees various community programs, particularly the recently launched program, The Lotus Project, a health and social program, and the Stop the Hate program which serves the LGBTQ API community.
VICE CHAIR. Jethro (they/them) is a Filipino non-binary documentary filmmaker, visual artist, and activist. They were the featured visual artist for the 2023 Oaklash Drag Festival in Oakland, California which featured their sculptural works “Disco Balling Heads”, “The Performer” and “Gabriela Rising”. Their works were also featured in the 2022 Trans Aware Art Exhibition in San Francisco. Jethro was a fellow for the 2022 Film Independent's CNN Docu-Series Intensive and DOCNY’s Storytelling Incubator.. Their first feature documentary film 50 Years of Fabulous was opening film at QDocs 2018 Film Festival and an official selection to Frameline42. Jethro was a fellow for BVAC’s National Media Maker 2016 for his documentary film #MyNameIs. Jethro is also known as the drag persona “Virginia Please” on TikTok and teaches indigenous, black and brown queer and trans representation. They serve as one of the Board of Directors for the GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance, Oaklash and EyeZen.
TREASURER. Dave (he/him) brings his passion for giving back to the organization that has helped him grow so much. Originally from New Jersey, he has called San Francisco home for over a decade. When he's not diving into numbers, he enjoys diving into the ocean and hosting lively board game nights with friends.
SECRETARY & NEWS EDITOR.. Dino (he/him) is a founding member of GAPA. In addition to ongoing participation with GAPA, he has also supported numerous community-based arts and cultural organizations as a grant writer. He holds a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley and a J.D. from New College of California School of Law.
BOARD DIRECTOR. Randy (he/him) has been the Musical Director for the GAPA Men’s Chorus since 1991. He has been a long-time advocate for GAPA and GLBTQ+ AAPI causes and has served on various nonprofit boards in the Bay Area through the years. He retired from UCSF in 2018, and is currently Managing Director and CFO of the Golden Gate Men's Chorus, and Board chair of our sister 501(c)(3) organization, GAPA Fund. Randy holds an AB in German Literature from Harvard and a MA in Historical Germanic Linguistics from UC Berkeley.
BOARD MEMBER. Kiki (She/Her) is a proud transwoman living with HIV and the Community Engagement Coordinator at San Francisco Community Health Center. She passionately advocates for people living with HIV and trans communities, especially queer and trans Asian and Pacific Islanders, promoting cultural humility and harm reduction.
She loves building strong, family-like connections within the community. Outside work, she is a rising drag star performing in the Castro, SoMA, and East Bay. She serves as a board member for University of the Philippines Alumni Association SF Chapter (UPAASF) and the GLBTQIA+ Asian and Pacific Alliance (GAPA).
She is also one of the matriarchs of the Mabuhay Bitches, an all Filipino drag troupe.
She was crowned Miss GLBTQIA+ Asian and Pacific Alliance (GAPA) 2023 and was recently recognized and honored by the city and county of San Francisco, through the Center of Immigrant Protection for her contributions to the transgender immigrant community.
